2024 Nissan Murano Redesign, Hybrid, Price

This is the season for new SUVs, the 2024 Nissan Murano is just one of the many. There are numerous new additions to the SUV market, and the Murano might seem like just one face in the crowd. But this compact SUV is more than that. Nissan did a great job at checking all the boxes when making this SUV. It isn’t the top seller they hoped for but is much sought after. This mid-size SUV has a contemporary look and a stylish design.

The redesign that is coming our way is a mid-cycle refresh but not a small one. So we can expect some more drastic improvements. Starting from the inside we hope for much better technology. Other competitors have invested heavily in technology and safety aspect which adds much buy appeal. The outside of the vehicle isn’t looking to change too much. After all, they are not redesigning the vehicle from scratch. So perhaps some minor design upgrades might affect its functionality as well. Powertrain however could use an upgrade. It is not out of the question that we see a completely new one, or at least an upgraded version of the previous iteration. Let’s look at the new Murano and what comes with it.

Nissan Murano Interior Refresh

The updated 2024 Nissan Murano is getting some much-needed improvements. The seating is improved with new cushioning and massaging features. There are still two rows of seats. Which leaves enough space for a big trunk in the back. The back row can be folded to expand this as well. There is a moonroof and a brand-made audio system.

The dashboard is fully digital and can be customized to track wanted information. Infotainment is unchanged from the previous version. There will be hands-free driving and this is excellent. This feature is much sought after as it lets the driver relax a bit behind the wheel.

Exterior Changes

The exterior of the 2024 Nissan Murano is looking stylish as ever. It has a decent ride height and will feel comfortable in any environment no matter how harsh. The bumpers fit well with the design and are not protruding too much.

The overall body design is aerodynamic and stylish which helps with handling and fuel economy. The wheel rims are lightweight and 18 inches in size, 5 spoke per reports. Headlights are linear and have a sharp look to them.

Engine Specs

The new 2024 Nissan Murano is all good when it comes to the powertrain. This is probably the reason why Nissan plans to keep things intact. And we say engine, as in singular engine option for all trims of the compact SUV. This is not a bad thing as some would make it out to be. The engine in question is powerful and capable of propelling the SUV at a good speed and with great intent. All Muranos have a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with 260 horsepower under the hood. All-wheel drive is an option, and then both setups use a CVT. Front-wheel drive is standard once again.

All of the tested Muranos performed admirably on the race course and provided spirited city driving. Few Murano owners will frequently bury their foot in the throttle, but when they do, the CVT spikes and maintains the engine revs, producing a loud, droning grumble from the engine compartment. On lengthy highway trips, where the powertrain disappears into the background and the ride is serene, the Murano excels. The Murano’s suspension is optimized for comfort, making long drives a breeze. It smooths out even the worst potholes for a comfortable ride. The Murano won’t amuse you en route, but it will safely take you to the next junction if the road is winding.

On straight-aways, the steering provides adequate stability, but on winding two-lanes, it is uninteresting and uncommunicative. With a modest tow capacity of 1500 pounds, the Murano is available. It is a bit strange that the current engine doesn’t come with some sort of hybrid power. We are well aware of the benefits that a hybrid brings to any vehicle that it is installed in. So why not go the extra mile and bless the buyers with those benefits? Those include better fuel economy which everyone wants, better performance, and longer life of the main engine. Most commonly the setup would include one electric motor.

But if they decide to switch fully to electric power, which is expected, then a bigger setup is needed. They need to change the platform and architecture and also the platform, in order to accommodate all the components. We could see this happening down the road as many manufacturers are switching to green energy. The stricter regulations about emissions are the main reason for this. And we can all agree that electrical powertrains are the future. There are numerous SUVs on the road with just electric powertrains. But we will have to wait for that to happen to Murano.

Fuel Efficiency

The compact 2024 Nissan Murano is decent when it comes to fuel economy. It is not top of the class, but it isn’t too thirsty either. It achieves 20 mpg in the city and 28 on the open road. A hybrid powertrain would go a long way when the economy is in question. It would make perfect sense for the Murano to include an electric motor at least.

2024 Nissan Murano Price and Release Date

Expect to see the new 2024 Nissan Murano on the road, in the second portion of 2023. Probably the fall of the current year. There are four trims available currently and they all bring different amenities for a different prices. We have S trim for $34000, SV trims for $38000, SL for $42000, and Platinum for $46000. The segment is full of impressive models and it will take excellent performance for Murano to come out on top.

  1. I had an Xterra in 2005 and loved it so much. We moved to Hawaii and I sold it. It was the best automobile that I ever owned, and I still regret having to let it go. We came back to our home in Tennessee 2010, and I looked and looked for Xterras on the road and never saw them anymore. Recently I saw an Xterra and I wondered if maybe they had started making them again and am hoping I can find one to buy. We bought a little Kia Soul in 2013 and it has been a pretty good car but does not have the room and feel of driving like an Xterra.
