Here comes another SUV; it is the 2024 Ford Edge Hybrid. Although Ford is synonymous with pickups, there are other vehicles under its flag. And good ones at that point; they are sturdy, good performers, and classy. The mid-size crossover is ready for an update since it has been on the road for quite a while. The exact extent of the redesign is unknown, but we are expecting some major upgrades.
This should come right on time since many manufacturers have already updated their creations. The interior of the SUV is stylish already, and it has good technology, but it could be so much better with a bit of ingenuity. Updating the technology and adding some safety features would go a long way. The outside of the edge is probably going to look the same as before.
There is no need to change the winning formula. But some minor modifications will most likely happen in order to improve its functionality. The powertrain is a very interesting point. There will surely be a hybrid option, which is great and much sought-after in SUVs. There is no electric version yet, per reports. Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming Ford Edge.
Ford Edge Hybrid Interior Changes
The inside of the 2024 Ford Edge is looking quite good. The styling is different, and the technology is updated. The infotainment system is unchanged, and the dashboard is half digital and half analog. There is still a speedometer that measures speed the old way.
However, you can switch to fully digital and track whatever you want. There is enough cargo space for 29 suitcases if you fold the back row. There is enough space for five passengers to sit comfortably. Dual-zone climate control is present, as is a brand-name audio system with over 10 speakers.
Exterior Facelift
The outside of the 2024 Ford Edge Hybrid is looking mostly unchanged. There are big 18-inch wheel rims that are lightweight and help with fuel economy. The front grille is shiny and big, in typical Ford fashion. The body design is ergonomic and aerodynamic. which also helps with handling and fuel economy. The bumpers are a bit prominent and give a menacing look.
Headlights and taillights are very linear and thin. However, this does not mean they do not shine brightly. There are numerous colors to choose from, including Start White, Rapid Red, Forged Green Metallic, Iconic Silver Metallic, Stone Blue, Carbonized Gray Metallic, Burgundy Velvet, Atlas Blue, and Agate Black Metallic.
Engine Specs
The fresh 2024 Ford Edge Hybrid will have a good offering of powertrains under its hood. Ford likes to give its vehicles several good options for the engine, and this is exactly what it did here. There will be only two options for the powertrain of the Edge. Both options are reliable and have proven themselves while being used in other vehicles under the Ford flag.
The two engines in question are the famous 2.0 EcoBoost and the 2.7-liter V6. As mentioned, both engines offer good performance with great longevity, making them the perfect option for the upcoming Edge. The four-cylinder 2.0 EcoBoost can produce 250 horsepower, which is more than enough for a compact SUV. It has good torque numbers as well, which means it won’t have difficulties in harsh terrain.
The EcoBoost engine also provides excellent fuel economy, which is highly sought after. The second option is a 2.7 liter V6 with 335 horsepower, which is significantly more than the previous one. This is great power output since the mid-size SUV isn’t too heavy and doesn’t need much to zoom around. There might be a third option, which is a PHEV hybrid. The same powertrain is used on the Ford Escape, and the builds are similar.
So we know that it will fit nicely into the upcoming Edge. This hybrid option offers superior fuel economy and amazing output. According to reports, it could achieve 200 horsepower and over 100 mpg with the most economical driving. The only electric parts can propel the vehicle an extra 50 miles. However, we have noticed the trend of going fully green and incorporating electric powertrains into vehicles.
SUVs are likely to be the hardest hit by this trend. A lot of SUVs have already gone green, with great success. They have good mileage, good output, and still look good. Perhaps this is bound to happen for the Edge as well, but unfortunately, it isn’t happening this time around. There is a need for a new platform because the current one has been in use for quite a while.
The new platform already exists, and Ford has its own to use. So that shouldn’t be too much of an issue. The battery pack doesn’t need to be too big. However, it is not a bad thing if it is 200 kWh and outperforms the current performance. But we will say that 150 kWh should suffice. Unfortunately, we will have to wait and see a bit for this change to happen.
Good MPG Rating
The 2024 Ford Edge Hybrid has decent mileage. The four-cylinder engines can reach 29 mpg on the highway and 22 in the city. The bigger engine reaches 25 mpg in combined driving. The PHEV model could reach better numbers, but there is no confirmation it will happen.
2024 Ford Edge Hybrid Price and Release Date
