There are a lot of new SUVs on the market, 2024 Buick Enclave is one of the newcomers. Buick although a very famous brand, is not often seen in the same sentence with SUVs. But this is about to change with the coming of the Enclave. Buick’s entrance into the intensely competitive mid-size luxury SUV market, the 2023 Enclave, falls short.
Despite its attractive appearance and cost-effective packaging, the Enclave falls short of luxury-branded competitors, many of which are just a tad bit pricier. The Enclave finds its place among competitors that straddle the same line when looked at through the prism of premium rather than an outright luxury. These competitors include the Acura MDX and the Infiniti QX60 and high-end variants of the Kia Telluride and the Jeep Grand Cherokee L.
There are several trims available and the powertrain offer is also good. We will have to see more numbers from more conclusive testing to see in better detail how it compares against the competition. But the Enclave is not at all a bad SUV. It has a place to improve, but this might be due to Buick not being well-versed with that type of vehicle. Let’s take a closer look at what the new Enclave looks like.
Interior Updates
The fresh 2024 Buick Enclave is quite stylish and dashing in the cabin. It is a brand-new and fresh design. Some parts are obviously borrowed from other vehicles under the Buick flag. Seating is as luxurious as possible. There is a bit of extra cushioning so the ride is comfortable and they are massaging seats. It is a three-row seater so at least 7 passengers can sit comfortably.
The audio system is new and there are over 10 speakers around the cabin. Headroom and legroom are available so you won’t feel crowded inside. Safety features are installed as there is also hands-free driving available. It just remains to be seen how much of the pre-mapped roads the system covers.
Buick Enclave Exterior Redesign
Probably the final model year of the present generation will be the approaching 2024 Buick Enclave. Therefore, we rely on an established design that was updated last year. The revised design gives the Enclave a more appealing appearance with sharper lines, smaller headlamps, and a wider grille. The 2024 Enclave’s only potential modifications are new color options.
Small visual changes are, of course, always a possibility. However, little has changed mechanically since the initial launch. This SUV’s C1 architecture, which offers a comfortable and quiet ride, is still in use. The primary drawback of this dampers and chassis setup, on the contrary, is its lack of agility. The Enclave model, however, is highly fashionable and upright.
Engine Specs, Transmission, Towing Capacity
The upcoming 2024 Buick Enclave will have a good and reliable engine. Some manufacturers like to offer a lot of powertrains with their creations. Buick is not going that way as they will offer but one engine only. This will be true of all trims and this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Having one engine is fine, as long as it is a good option and a high performing one. And the engine in question is all you could want in a powertrain.
Every Enclave has a 3.6-liter V-6 engine with 310 horsepower under the hood. It uses a discrete nine-speed automatic transmission to drive either the front wheels or all four. The nimble Enclave is able to reach 60 mph in 6.5 seconds. This isn’t as quick as some of the competition on the market. But still, this isn’t a vehicle you are about to take when drag racing. Although it’s not the fastest crossover, the Enclave is swift enough that merging onto the highway never causes worry, and the engine works without disturbing the occupants of the passenger cabin.
The three-row SUV’s well-damped suspension helps it conceal its weight, but it never feels as sporty as, say, the Audi Q7. Instead, the Enclave sacrifices comfort for a smooth ride that flies over potholed pavement and rarely feels harsh collisions. Crisp reflexes and a moderate level of effort are used in the steering, which offers an adequate degree of input for a crossover. When properly outfitted, the Buick can tow up to 5000 pounds for individuals that require that capability.
It is a bit strange that the Enclave is not fully electric from the get-go. This would perhaps make even more sense than an engine without hybrid help. Hybridization as we all know brings many benefits to the vehicle. And it is almost a standard on the market to have a vehicle with a hybrid motor, especially because of new emission restrictions. The SUV itself is not too heavy, so there is no need for a huge battery pack under the cabin. But the platform should be new.
We doubt that Buick would invest in creating their own. That costs a certain amount of money, while they can use an already existing and proven platform from other manufacturers. A 150 kWh would suffice, especially considering the size of the vehicle it should be enough. More than enough, it should even surpass the output of the gasoline-powered version. But it might happen later down the road, this model will come only with a traditional combustion engine.
Fuel Economy
The 2024 Buick Enclave is decent in terms of fuel economy. It gets 25 mpg of combined driving. Not bad for a three-row seater. If they introduced a hybrid at least, these numbers would be much better and it would have more buy appeal.
2024 Buick Enclave Price and Release Date
The fresh 2024 Buick Enclave should arrive towards the end of the 2023 calendar year. There will be three trims available for the Enclave. They are Essence which costs $46000, Premium $53000 and Avenir is $58000. Competition is fierce and there are many good SUVs on the market. We will have to wait and see how the new Buick SUV fares against such competition.
