If big SUVs are your thing, then the 2024 Audi Q9 is right up your alley. The German manufacturer is about to drop several new SUVs. And there are rumors about a brand new one, called Q9. As we all know, the Q line of SUVs is one of the best-selling on the market. With good reason actually, they are stylish, extremely well-performing and they are long-lasting. We heard through the grapevine that the upcoming big Q9 is supposed to be a three-row seater. This is an excellent choice by Audi, as the three-row SUVs are in high demand.
It is probably due to a lot of buyers looking for an option that caters to families as well. This might just be the largest SUV in its ever-expanding fleet of Audi. The competition is obviously fierce with Mercedes’ GLS and BMW X class. But Audi is going to pull all the stops to make this an appealing option. The exterior is probably going to resemble other Q-line SUVs. The powertrain however could be brand new. We are looking at both electric options and some gasoline ones per reports. It has all the makings of a great SUV, let’s take a look at what it might look like when it arrives.
Interior Features
The upcoming 2024 Audi Q9 is going to be quite stylish. Obviously, the manufacturer will borrow the design from already existing SUVs. And there are good ones on offer, so no harm there. It will be a three-row seater, so expect at least 7 passengers on the inside. Chrome and wooden accents along the cabin and dashboard. A fully digital gauge cluster will be present.
This is excellent since it offers a lot of customizing options. The seating will be premium with high-quality leather and contrasting stitching. Moon roof will be added as well as a premium made audio system. Safety features are also present, we get automatic brakes, lane change alerts, pedestrian detection, and many others. Hands-free driving is probable, especially at this price tag.
Audi Q9 Exterior Design
The 2024 Audi Q9 is resembling other SUVs in the Q line of vehicles. It has more ground clearance but it is not built with off-roading in mind. The wheel rims are huge 20-inch ones made from lightweight materials.
It is done to shave off some weight as the SUV is already quite fat. Bumpers are not as prominent and they fit nicely with the overall design. The front mesh is shiny chrome and gives a menacing look to the SUV. Headlights are linear and look like thin eyes.
Engine Options
The upcoming 2024 Audi Q9 is still vague when it comes to the powertrain. It is not official, but there are many speculations surrounding this build. The easiest option would of course be to borrow everything from Q5 or Q7 or even Q8. But we don’t know if that is going to happen. But, the MBL platform will support the upcoming Q9. It is speculated that the Q9 will also be the biggest SUV in the class, and also the biggest one using the platform. Even larger that the humongous Bentley Bentayga, which is 201.8 inches. But where Bentley focuses on unnecessary luxury, Audi will try to maximize space, bang for the buck, and performance.
There will definitely be a gasoline-powered version of the Q9. And we can assume it will be more powerful than the Q7 due to its bigger size. The size is reportedly 204 inches and the SUV will need a lot of power to move around with that kind of weight. We anticipate Audi to deploy the final fresh era of engines it aims to release by 2024 in the Q9. According to the brand, they will be the best engines ever produced by the company. In the Q9, Audi might provide 3.0-liter gasoline turbocharged powertrain combining that with mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid technology. With the plug-in hybrid model, the corporation may aim for an EPA-estimated electric range of about 40 miles.
The Q9’s powertrain lineup will likely include a plug-in hybrid version of a 4.0-liter with a twin-turbo V8 gas engine. It might be connected to the Lamborghini Urus Evo’s plug-in hybrid system, which, according to a CAR article from March 4, 2021, will have an internal engine built by Porsche and referred to as the “LK5”. But we also heard a lot about upcoming electric SUVs by Audi. And it looks like the Q9 might just be the one. It would require a new platform obviously to accommodate the electric powertrain components. The battery would need to be really big though. At least 150 kWh or perhaps even 200. This is because the Q9 is reportedly huge and it will need a lot of power to move around. Also, Audi is all about performance, and they want the SUV to be quick and nimble.
Solid MPG Rating
The huge 2024 Audi Q9 could have better mileage, but it isn’t so bad honestly. It gets 15 mpg in the city, and 21 mpg on the highway, meaning 17 combined. This is quite good, but introducing a hybrid technology would improve these numbers greatly. Not to mention how further it could go with a fully electric powertrain.
2024 Audi Q9 Price and Release Date
The fresh 2024 Audi Q9 is going on sale later in 2023. This might happen in the fall of 2023, which is the time when most vehicles are going public. The price, however, is not available as of yet. Speculations put the price tag somewhere between $65000 and $70000. This is not the cheapest but you know what you are getting when you buy an Audi. Premium German engineering and styling. Competition is fierce with Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, Bentley, and others having luxury and high-performing SUVs of their own.
