2020 GMC Terrain: Denali, Specs, Release Date

The brand-new 2020 GMC Terrain is set to be presented next year, and this time is bringing several upgrades. So, we can expect changes in exterior design but also mild upgrades inside the cabin. The engine options should remain the same, and for now, there is no news about the hybrid unit.

2020 GMC Terrain engines and performances

The 2020 GMC Terrain will be powered with several engine options, and there will be three units to choose from. So, the base is a 1.5-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine which is able to make 170 hp and 203 pound-feet of torque. The engine will be mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and it will be offered with front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. The front-wheel drive model will be rated at 26 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. The AWD variant gets 24 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

The next is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder unit. This engine will be able to make 252 hp and the torque of 260 pound-feet. It will also use the same 8-speed automatic transmission and two drivetrain options. Connected to front wheels, it will be rated at 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive model will get 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

Diesel:

There is also a diesel engine and it is a 1.6-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine. This unit is able to generate 137 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. It will work with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The front- and all-wheel drive layouts will be available too. Connected to front wheels, it will get 28 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive model is estimated to be 28 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.

The exterior and interior of the 2020 GMC Terrain

When it comes to exterior design, the 2020 GMC Terrain will keep up with its bold and sleek design as the outgoing model. Depending on a trim level, it will feature more or less chrome and black trim. As well, it will get different styled grille designs and highly placed headlights with LED lighting.

Interior:

The cabin of the 2020 GMC Terrain will be cozy and functional as before. The front-seat passengers will get excellent head and leg room, so as the rear-seat occupants. The cargo room is around 29.6 cubes and it expands to 63.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.

The base model will be equipped with 17-inch wheels, fold-flat rear seats, Bluetooth, keyless ignition, two USB ports, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 7.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and so on. The higher trim levels will add leather seats, blind-spot monitors, a power tailgate, navigation, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, etc.

Release date and price of the 2020 GMC Terrain

The new 2020 GMC Terrain is set to go on sale in late 2019. The starting price should be around $25,000.
