The upcoming 2020 Toyota C-HR will arrive once again in the last quarter of the year. With this model still fresh, new 2020 C-HR will be a carryover model. We can only expect small updates in terms of safety and technology. C-HR stands for “Compact High Rider” so the name already suggests its type. A subcompact crossover with higher ride comes with attractive design. It looks small and upscale.
Styling is relatively new and design looks funky. This crossover is aimed at the younger population. For that reason, C-HR wears a lot of sharp body lines and cool features. Inside, comfort is great and the interior room is average for the subcompact segment. Under the hood, Toyota CH-R will continue to offer a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.
Exterior Continues Unchanged
With 2019 being significantly updated, the 2020 Toyota CH-R will be a carryover. The exterior design will largely remain. We don’t expect for this model to gain any visual changes. As we already mentioned, its funky design is very popular among the younger population. Subcompact crossover comes with plenty of sharp body lines and nice-looking features.
Plenty of triangular shapes are visible at first glance. Three-dimensional taillights are perhaps the highlight of this crossover. On top of that, Toyota offers a slung roof and coupe-like rear styling. Some cues are looking incredibly sporty and modern. But overall, this model looks stylish and attractive. Almost the complete exterior is relatively new. For that reason, Toyota feels there is no need for a drastic change from the outside.
Toyota C-HR Dimensions
The subcompact crossover segment is getting stronger and stronger. This segment is packed with plenty of attractive vehicles. However, dimensionally, all of the models are different. Some vehicles are longer some of them are wider. Every automaker has his own style and recognizable approach.
Toyota is no different. The 2020 Toyota C-HR is 171.2 inches long. Its wheelbase is rated at 103.9 inches. On top of that, this model is 61.6 inches tall and 70.7 inches wide. Dimensions are truly unique in the segment. Moreover, the new 2020 CH-R offers 5.9 inches of ground clearance.
2020 Toyota C-HR Interior Features
The upcoming 2020 Toyota CH-R comes with modern interior design. Comfort is great and there is plenty of room from the inside. However, the new crossover will arrive with minor changes and upgrades. Only the technology department will see small updates. The infotainment system, navigation, and displays are all up to date now. A floating touchscreen will remain standard.
The same stands for climate controls and standard cloth upholstery. Leather upholstery is optional, just like the navigation, and premium sound system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are once again standard part of the equipment. Upper trim levels are offering more premium amenities. Thanks to that, you can buy less affordable but more luxurious model.
Safety Rating
You can find new 2020 Toyota C-HR uninviting or not enough attractive or powerful. However, one thing that everyone will agree upon is its safety rating. C-HR comes with perfect crash-safety ratings. It offers so many standard features such as auto emergency braking and collision warning.
On top of that, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and pedestrian detection are available too. C-HR won numerous Top Safety Pick+ awards. However, the only issue is still its “poor” rating of headlights.
Engine Specs and Hybrid Speculations
Toyota continues in the same manner when it comes to performances. The 2019 model already gained improved driving dynamics. Thanks to that, the ride is quieter and smoother. Under the hood, the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine provides 144 horsepower and 139 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes with a standard front-wheel-drive system and CVT transmission.
All-wheel-drive setup is once again optional. Rumors about hybrid drivetrain are getting more and more frequent. According to the same reports, C-HR Hybrid will offer astonishing fuel economy figures. The problem could be the current vehicle’s platform. This architecture is not able to accommodate an electric motor and battery pack. For that reason, the hybrid version is more likely in 2021.
Price, Release Date, Rivals
Official release date is still not available. However, new 2020 Toyota C-HR will most likely go on sale in December 2019. The price will remain which means this model will cost $22,000. The forthcoming C-HR will compete against Chevy Trax, Ford EcoSport and Honda HR-V.
