The upcoming 2022 Ford Everest is getting a redesign. First details are available and this seven-seat SUV is ready for dramatic upgrades. Based on the Ranger mid-size pickup, Everest will introduce a new diesel engine. However, a plug-in hybrid powertrain is the highlight of the 2022MY. On top of that, Blue Oval will offer the Wildtrak X variant that is a perfect off-road model.
New model will look more attractive and more modern. The interior will gain additional high-tech amenities and the comfort will be better as well. Anyway, changes are significant and Everest SUV will hit the dealerships in Australia later this year.
2022 Everest Exterior Redesign
The 2022 Ford Everest is surely arriving with the redesign. First details are available and renderings are looking more than promising. New model will ride on the same platform that underpins the Ford Ranger mid-size pickup truck. Everest looks very unique and the most notable changes will happen upfront. The base trim level will wear a more attractive grille and new LED headlights.
Both the grille and the headlamps are similar to the units you can find on the Ranger model. You can equip your Everest with various off-road goodies, including new tires, snorkel, and skid plates. However, Everest Wildtrak X is a complete package. It is a very capable off-road variant that offers Bilstein shocks, BF Goodrich tires, and brand-new rock sliders.
Interior Revamp
The forthcoming 2022 Ford Everest will also introduce a new cabin design. The goal is to deliver a more modern cabin with a generous room. On top of that, the comfort will be better than before. Everest will once again borrow a lot of things from Ford Ranger. However, the brand-new Mustang Mach-E crossover-SUV will also have a great impact.
Thanks to that, Everest will feature more modern stuff, including the new SYNC4 infotainment system. Furthermore, a vertical 12.8-inch display will be offered as well. Blue Oval will also provide wireless, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the latest driver-assistance features.
Hybrid Powertrain is in the Works
As we said, the new 2022 Ford Everest will gain a new diesel engine. For a start, the current 3.2-liter turbodiesel is gone. It is an aging engine so Blue Oval will replace it with a new six-cylinder turbodiesel variant. However, this engine will power the off-road Wildtrak X variant and it will develop 250 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. Another novelty could be a hybrid powertrain option.
It is a rumored plug-in hybrid variant that combines a 2.3-liter turbo engine with an electric motor. This model will reportedly generate 360 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. On top of that, Ford’s relatively new 10-speed automatic transmission will be in offer as well.
2022 Ford Everest Release Date, Price
The upcoming 2022 Ford Everest will now cost around $50,000. It is a small jump in price, given how significant the updates are. The sales will begin later this year, in Australia. Most likely, the new Everest will arrive this September.
