The upcoming 2022 Dodge Durango is in the works. A few weeks ago, we saw spy photos of the 2021 Durango. The spy shots are the biggest indication of what we can expect in 2022. Durango will go through severe refinements, and the 2022 model will get a mid-cycle facelift.
More importantly, Durango SRT will also arrive. The sales should start in the later stages of 2021, and the price will slightly increase. Here’s what we know about 2022 Durango and its famous SRT variant.
2022 Durango Changes
In terms of changes, the 2022 Dodge Durango will get a couple of them. Durango SUV will be significantly improved for 2021. That means the 2022 version is ready for minor updates. For a start, Durango will wear a more stylish design with new exterior colors and new optional wheels. Moreover, the front fascia will host additional upgrades. All of the Durango’s trim levels will look unique, and each trim will offer something exciting.
On the inside, Durango will arrive with a 10.1-inch touchscreen. The next-gen Uconnect5 system should be in the offer, and it is the most important update in our honest opinion. The cabin will benefit from more upscale materials, and the comfort will be at a higher level than before. Upper trim levels could get new leather upholstery and additional chrome accents.
Available Engines
The all-new 2022 Dodge Durango won’t mechanically change. This stylish SUV will arrive with a standard 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine. It provides 294 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Durango will remain a rear-wheel-drive SUV while the all-wheel-drive system is optional once again. The standard engine has been rated at 22 mpg combined.
We don’t know if FCA will try to improve its fuel efficiency for 2022. Durango also offers optional 5.7-liter V8. Potent V8 generates 380 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. While it provides more power, its fuel economy is truly poor, only 18 mpg combined. Both engine options will arrive with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
2022 Durango SRT
The best part about 2022 Dodge Durango is its SRT version. It is the most powerful SUV you can get, along with the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. Interestingly, both models are using the same 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. We don’t know how much power Durango SRT will offer yet. However, we do know that Grand Cherokee Trackhawk can produce 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque.
However, Durango SRT is heavier than the Grand Cherokee SUV by a small margin. That means Durango SRT should offer the same figures with its acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. As for the design, the SRT version looks amazing. It comes with an athletic stance and a more aggressive bodywork. Lastly, Dodge will offer numerous unique appearance packages, including the Redline Stripe package.
2022 Dodge Durango Price and Release Date
According to the latest reports, the 2021 Durango will arrive this October. That means the 2022 Dodge Durango should arrive around the same time next year. The price will jump, but not drastically. The base trim level starts at $44,000, while the Durango SRT model will cost almost $80,000.
