2021 Jaguar J-Pace: Specs, Arrival, Review

The Jaguar carmaker is working on the all-new flagship SUV which should debut in upcoming years, precisely in 2021. It is the 2021 Jaguar J-Pace, a full-size SUV which is designed by the Company’s design director Ian Callum. The newest Jaguar J-Pace will represent the fourth crossover SUV in the brand’s lineup with the Jaguar F-Pace, I-Pace, and E-Pace models. Besides this new model, the carmaker is also planning to refresh the F-Pace model and equip it with a hybrid engine. So, it is very likely that the J-Pace SUV will also receive some kind of electrification since the manufacturer will offer most of its models with hybrid or a plug-in hybrid engines eventually.

The newest Jaguar will inherit many characteristics from the Range Rover. First of all, the J-Pace should be based on the same architecture which underpins the Range Rover. Naturally, we can expect that they will also share the same engine options. Furthermore, the Jaguar should also be powered by the new plug-in hybrid drivetrain at some point in future. As well, it will receive an all-aluminum body which will help in the weight reduction. The interior of the Jaguar will be more spacious compared to the other Land Rovers, especially for the rear seat passengers.

The key rivals of the J-Pace will include the Bentley Bentayga, the Porsche Cayenne, the Lamborghini Urus, and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

2021 Jaguar J-Pace powertrain

The 2021 Jaguar J-Pace will feature several petrol and diesel engines under its hood. And those will be the same units which power the Jaguar F-Pace. Furthermore, according to the latest news, the J-Pace should also appear with a plug-in hybrid engine at some point in future. And it will probably be the same unit which is found in the Range Rover Sport.

So, the base models will probably be offered with a 4-cylinder petrol engine while the higher trims will feature the stronger units. So, the next option could be a 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engine and the other a supercharged V-6 powertrain. Furthermore, the J-Pace could also be available as the high-performance variant. And in that case, it might feature a V-8 supercharged engine. This unit will be able to make 550 horses and to reach 60 mph in less than 5 seconds.

The platform, exterior, and interior

The all-new 2021 Jaguar J-Pace will most likely use the same architecture as the Range Rover. As well, its body will mostly be made of lightweight aluminum which will significantly reduce its weight. Its styling will be similar to the other Jaguar SUVs, but it will also feature some unique details. Compared to the Range Rover with which it will share the similar flat roofline, the 2021 Jaguar J-Pace will provide more space inside the cabin. Precisely, it will provide more headroom especially for the passengers in the rear seats. As well, the J-Pace might also be available with an extended wheelbase.
