Journey SUV continues with mid-cycle refreshments, according to the latest reports. The upcoming 2021 Dodge Journey won’t suffer drastic changes. Instead, expect a lot of upgrades that are minor more than major. The famous SRT variant is still just a rumor but it is likely to happen. Journey is a three-row mid-size SUV known for its affordable price and reliability.
The current model arrived as the new-gen Journey so minor modifications are perfectly reasonable. Design is fresh, along with the interior features and layout. A rear-wheel-drive system remains standard and Dodge is offering numerous engine choices. For 2021, you can also expect more driver-assistance features.
2021 Journey Exterior Changes, Platform, Colors
The forthcoming 2021 Dodge Journey continues to ride on its current architecture. It is a platform that also underpins the Alfa Romeo Stelvio crossover. This platform is relatively new and it is based on the rear-wheel-drive setup. Journey offers three trim levels and the SRT version is still a mystery. The mid-size SUV will get small exterior upgrades and nothing more than that. Only the front fascia will host notable changes, including the wider grille and slightly different layout upfront.
The side profile remains, along with the rear design. Dodge is offering Blacktop Appearance Package that comes with larger gloss black wheels and blacked-out features. You can also opt for the lower ride height. Journey is a customizable SUV from every aspect. Whatsoever, it offers a lot of exterior paints. White Noise, Redline, Pitch Black, Olive Green, and Granite are just some of the available colors.
Interior Updates
The all-new 2021 Dodge Journey will once again offer three rows of seats and a room for seven passengers. Journey is known as a spacious mid-size SUV, especially in the first two rows. The headroom is ample as well so taller occupants won’t have any trouble. Dodge offers a long list of standard features. However, that list could be enhanced for 2021.
That mostly includes new driver-assistance aids. On the other hand, most of the new safety systems will be optional across all trim levels. Upper trims are offering more luxury and that includes leather upholstery, larger touchscreen, and additional wood accents. Uconnect system is up to date and it comes with a standard 8.4-inch display.
Engine Specs
The mid-size SUV will continue to use its 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. It can produce 180 horses and 170 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, 3.6-liter V6 remains optional with 305 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. Some reports are suggesting a new 2.0-liter MultiJet engine that should deliver around 180 horsepower and higher fuel efficiency. This is perhaps a rumor but it is a very likely outcome.
On top of that, optional 3.6-liter V6 does not meet the emissions standard in California. Thanks to that, Dodge could make some changes in the engine department. Lastly, SRT is a high-performance variant that is still a mystery. It if arrives, expect a larger powertrain option, most likely a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 475 hp.
2021 Dodge Journey Price and Release Date
Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, automakers are forced to reschedule their events. Journey was supposed to make a debut this summer and to go on sale later in 2020. However, the 2021 Dodge Journey will most likely arrive in the first quarter of 2021. The price will remain, which means you can get a base trim level for $25,000.
