The upcoming 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is one popular model, especially outside the United States. It is a smaller version of the Land Cruiser that rides on the J150 platform. The 2019 model was the new-generation model that introduced significant upgrades.
The 2020 model is mostly a carryover. However, we can expect a hybrid version and small visual changes. Besides that, the Prado crossover will offer a diesel drivetrain while the price will remain. New 2020 Land Cruiser Prado will hit the markets later this year.
Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Exterior Dimensions
This crossover is a smaller version of the Land Cruiser model. However, the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado won’t get dimensional changes. Prado is 187.4 inches long and its wheelbase is rated at 110 inches. On top of that, the new Prado is 74.2 inches wide and 74 inches tall. Just like the regular Land Cruiser, the 2020 Prado comes with 8.7 inches of ground clearance.
Available Engines
One great thing about the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is its wide range of available engines. Prado is using different types of powertrains. However, not all engines are available. Prado is offering each engine for a specific market. With that in mind, somewhere Toyota is offering gasoline and somewhere diesel versions. On top of that, Prado Hybrid is a possibility as well.
Gasoline/Petrol Powertrain
A 2.7-liter unit is the most common engine in the lineup of Prado’s engines. It is also the weakest engine. This unit is producing 165 horses and 185 lb-ft of torque. It comes with good fuel economy numbers and it offers an automatic gearbox. Also, an all-wheel-drive system is optional.
If you want more power, choose an optional 3.5-liter engine that delivers 280 hp and 270 lb-ft of twist. However, this engine is available only in China for now. The most powerful option is a 4.0-liter V6. This engine can be found under the hood of the Toyota 4Runner model. It delivers 240 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque.
Diesel Variant
Toyota likes to offer a diesel drivetrain where possible. The 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado comes with 2.8-liter and 3.0-liter engines. The first option comes with a turbocharger and it is producing 175 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque.
It also comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The second engine offers two different outputs. A 105 hp and 170 hp versions are available. On top of that, the first output delivers 145 lb-ft while the second output is 260 lb-ft of torque.
2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Hybrid
Latest reports are strongly suggesting a hybrid version of the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Just like the 300 series, Prado could also get its first hybrid setup. The same reports are predicting a 3.5-liter engine that is currently available only in China.
In a combination with an electric motor and battery pack, this output will produce over 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. A similar setup can be found in the new Toyota Highlander SUV.
Price and Release Date
The brand-new 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser will cost around $40,000. Upper trims will logically cost even more. The price is also different in all kinds of markets. The New Prado model will hit the dealerships later in 2019, probably in the last quarter.
