Sometime next year, the carmaker has announced the launching of the new 2020 Nissan Kicks. The upcoming Kicks should get some small changes in exterior styling and some new exterior colors. Inside the cabin, we could see upgrades of the materials, new color combinations, and perhaps some new tech features. Beneath its hood, it will get the same engine as its forerunner and there is one single option for all the trim levels.
Powertrain and performance of the 2020 Nissan Kicks
All the versions of the 2020 Nissan Kicks will be powered with the same engine as the current model and there is one sole option. It is a 1.6-liter inline-4 engine which is able to make 122 horsepower and 115 pound-feet of torque. The engine is connected to a continuously variable transmission and come with a front-wheel drive configuration only. Unfortunately, the all-wheel drive system won’t be offered once again. As for the fuel economy, the Nissan Kicks will be rated at 31 mpg in the city, 36 mpg on the highway, and 33 mpg combined.
The exterior and interior design of the 2020 Nissan Kicks
Like the outgoing model, the 2020 Nissan Kicks will feature a sharp styling but handsome at the same time. The front end will wear the familiar V-motion grille and sharp headlights. All the models will get a floating roof design and darkened window pillars. The base model S will ride on the 16-inch steel wheels while the SV and SR trims will get the larger and more attractive 17-inch aluminum alloys wheels. Furthermore, the roof rails will be standard in all the models while the SR trim will also get a rear roof spoiler. As well, the SV and SR versions will be offered with a white or black roof too.
Inside the cabin, the 2020 Nissan Kicks will come with two rows of seats and will be able to welcome up to five passengers. All the seats are comfortable and even the rear seats provide very good leg and headroom. The higher trims will also offer nice contrasting stitching on the seats and some nice touches on the dashboard. The dashboard will be fitted with a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. Furthermore, with all seats up, there is a cargo room of 25.3 cubic feet. And with the rear seats folded down, it expands to more than 53 cubes.
As for the equipment, the base model will get cruise control, air conditioning, three USB ports, an audio system with 6 speakers, Bluetooth, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, Apple Siri Eyes Free, push-button start, etc. The SV model will add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, heated side mirrors, automatic climate control, rear-seat vents, 17-inch wheels, and blind-spot monitoring. The SR model will also include LED headlights, fog lights, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and Nissan’s Around View Monitor with a 360-degree bird’s eye view.
Release date and price
The new 2020 Nissan Kicks is expected to arrive during next year. The price will most likely stay close to the current and it begins at roughly $18,900.
