The all-new 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero has been caught on the camera. Latest spy photos are available and we can see a couple of major changes. Not all the details are visible, but new taillights and redesigned front fascia are. New body lines are also visible and grille is also a subject of change. We are not sure about the interior upgrades, but upgrades are expected for numerous reasons.
Pajero is a three-row SUV that comes with elegance and sportiness. It comes in two-body configurations and is an extremely popular model in Asia and Australia. On top of that, you can find the North American variant under the name “Montero”. Shogun is a model for the European markets.
Spy Photos
New spy shots are showing us numerous exterior changes and upgrades. Not all of the details are visible, but it seems like the Mitsubishi finally opted for a redesign. New taillights are the first thing that caught our attention. Furthermore, the rear fascia suffered significant changes. Headlights are moved down below and the light bulbs are exactly the same as on the Eclipse Cross model. The grille is all-new as well.
Side profile hides new character lines that are sharper than before. Besides the latest changes, 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero will continue to ride on 17-inch wheels. Also, Pajero is available in two body configurations. Both the three-door and the five-door variants are available. Dimensionally, Pajero will stay intact. However, Mitsubishi says that the new model will be lighter than the previous one.
Interior Upgrades
Interior details are not visible. However, the 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero will surely offer plenty of novelties. A three-row seven-seat layout will surely remain. We can expect further improvements which should provide better comfort. Also, Mitsubishi will introduce more upscale materials and soft-touch surfaces. The dash will stay intact but we can expect a larger infotainment display.
Upper trims will be premium and very comfortable. The credit goes to the standard leather upholstery. On top of that, we can expect more safety aids that will be optional on the base Pajero. The design will surely look more conventional and the cabin will be quieter.
Single Turbodiesel Engine and a Possible Hybrid
Under the bonnet, 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero will stay intact. That means a 3.2-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel unit will remain. This engine delivers 190 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. A 5-speed automatic transmission will remain and all-wheel-drive setup will be optional. Pajero is an SUV that is available in Asia, where diesel engines are very popular.
Montero is the model for North America and will surely offer a gasoline engine. For now, Pajero only offers a single diesel unit. However, the latest reports are suggesting a hybrid drivetrain. Hybrid variant will happen in the near future, no doubt about it. However, some rumors are suggesting the 2020 Pajero Hybrid model. This still seems very unlikely for a couple of reasons. But when it arrives, we can expect more power and astonishing mileage figures.
2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Price and Release Date
The upcoming 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero will cost slightly below $35,000. If the hybrid variant really arrives, the price will start at $40,000 or even higher.
Famous Pajero Sport variant will cost around $50,000. New Pajero SUV will hit the dealerships in the third quarter of 2019.
