The all-new 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA has been spied during the testing on the roads and based on what we have been able to see, it will bring some major upgrades. First of all, it will ride on the new platform which will make it larger but lighter. However, thanks to the new architecture, it will now offer a larger interior as well. Furthermore, the Mercedes GLA will be available with several engine options and the hybrid option should also be included.
Engine and performance of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA
The all-new 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA will be placed several types of engines including inline-4 units and very likely a hybrid engine. So, the one is going to be a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine which will be able to make 114 horses and 192 pound-feet of torque. There will also be a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine which will have the output of 148 and 187 horsepower.
On the other hand, there will also be several petrol units. The one will be a 1.3-liter engine which will come with three outputs. So, it will be able to develop either 107, 134, or 161 horsepower. As well, the new Mercedes will also be offered with a 2.0-liter engine. This unit will have the output of 187 and 221 horsepower. Furthermore, the Mercedes-AMG GLA45 version will use a new 2.0-liter inline-4 engine which will be able to generate around 400 horses. The hybrid engine will be available too at some point at future.
The exterior and interior
The all-new 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA will ride on the next-generation version of the MFA platform which is also used in the current Mercedes compact vehicles. Thanks to the new architecture, the Mercedes GLA will be much lighter compared to the previous model which will improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency as well. Moreover, the new GLA will be larger than before which will improve interior space. So, it will come with a taller ride height and it will feature wider wheel arches.
As for the exterior appearance, we assume that the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA will be slightly revised. And will look even more handsome. For now, there is no official news about precise changes. But we assume that it will most likely get revised grille, head and taillights, so as the bumpers.
The cabin of the new 2020 Mercedes-Benz will be more spacious than before thanks to the new larger platform. This means that the new Mercedes will offer more comfort for all the passengers, especially for the rear occupants. As before, the seats will be upholstered in synthetic leather while the higher trim levels will offer the real leather. The standard equipment will include keyless ignition, Bluetooth, audio system, 18-inch wheels, power-operated tailgate, and front seats, a rearview camera, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, automatic climate control, and so on. The higher trim levels will add a panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon audio system with 12 speakers, hands-free liftgate, LED headlights, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity, etc.
Release date and price
The upcoming 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA is expected to go on sale sometime by the end of 2019. The price is not yet revealed to the public while the price of the current model starts at around $33,950.
