With a roomy interior, excellent safety equipment, and a strong engine under its hood, the Pilot keeps being one of the favorite choices among large families. According to the latest news, sometime next year, we are expecting to see the new 2020 Honda Pilot. However, it probably won’t get any significant changes, but it is expected to finally get a hybrid engine alongside the standard V-6 unit.
Engine and performance of the 2020 Honda Pilot
Beneath the hood of the 2020 Honda Pilot will be found the same engine which powers the current model. It is a 3.5-liter V-6 unit which is standard in all the trim levels and it is the only option. This engine is able to produce 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. The engine is coupled with a 6-speed automatic while the Touring and Elite models are fitted with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The front-wheel drive will be standard while the all-wheel drive layout will be optional. The FWD model will be able to tow up to 3,500 pounds while the AWD model will have the towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.
The FWD model connected to a 6-speed automatic will get 19/27 mpg while with AWD it will be rated at 18/26mpg. The front-wheel drive version and 9-speed automatic gearbox, it is estimated to be 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. The AWD model will get 19/26 mpg. Furthermore, the new Honda could also get a hybrid engine and it should be the same one found in the Honda Accord model. It combines a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder unit with an electric motor.
The exterior and interior
The 2020 Honda Pilot will look handsome and attractive as always. The current model has gotten the new LED headlamps and slightly restyled grille. As well, the rear fascia has been refreshed with new taillights and more chrome details. So, visually, we don’t expect any large changes for the 2020 model year.
Inside, the 2020 Honda Pilot has three rows of seats and seat either seven or eight. However, most of the models come with a second-row bench which can be fitted with captain’s chairs in the Touring and are standard on the Elite models. The cloth seats are standard and the leather upholstery is available in the higher trim levels. In the center of the dash, there is s 5.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment and the larger 8.0-inch display comes in the more expensive trims. Furthermore, behind the third row, there is a cargo room of 16.5 cubes. With the third row folded down, the Pilot has the room of 47 cubic feet which expand to almost 84 cubes as the maximum.
The base Pilot comes standard with power features, active safety tech, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 5.0-inch touchscreen, and so on. The higher trims will add leather, a power tailgate, an 8.0-inch display, navigation, a moonroof, upgraded audio system, and so on.
