New engines of the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban

The current model has only been available with a 5.3-liter V-8 engine which is able to deliver 355 horses and 383 pound-feet of torque. This engine works with a 6-speed automatic transmission and comes with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive systems. With rear-wheel drive, this engine gets 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive variant is rated at 15/22 mpg. This engine will probably be available in the newest Suburban as well, but we can expect several new options.

So, the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban will also receive a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. This unit will be able to produce 310 hp and 348 pound-feet of torque. This engine will work with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The next option should be a 6.2-liter V-8 engine. This one will have the output of 420 horsepower and the torque of 460 lb-ft. It will be paired with either 8-speed or a 10-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain will probably power the range-topping Suburban RST trim. All the variants should be available with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations.

However, some sources claim that the new Suburban might get a V-6 twin-turbo engine, a 3.0-liter V-6 or a 3.6-liter V-6 engine.

The new platform, exterior, and interior

The all-new 2020 Chevrolet Suburban will now be based on the new GM T1 architecture which will allow it to receive some new engine options. It is the same platform which will underpin the latest 2020 Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and the Cadillac Escalade. But that is it not all. The new Chevy will be much lighter than the previous generation model, for around 300 pounds which will improve general performances.

In the terms of exterior design, the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban will be slightly revised. It has been caught wearing a lot of camouflage. And it seems that the whole front fascia, particularly the headlamps will be very similar to the newest Silverado model. The taillights will also be refreshed.

The interior of the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban will also be revised. The carmaker will surely improve the space, especially in the third row. The comfort and luxury will be raised to the higher level too. The dashboard will get a new screen with the next generation Chevrolet infotainment system. Furthermore, it is also said that the carmaker will introduce the GM Super Cruise autonomous driving technology and an independent rear suspension as an option.
