Audi plans to deliver more upgrades for its 2020 models. Q2 is one of the models that will get numerous upgrades. The upcoming 2020 Audi Q2 has been caught on cameras. The compact crossover will get mid-cycle exterior refreshments. However, Audi confirmed that its Q2 version will get significant-tech updates.
Besides that, the rest of the vehicle will largely remain. That means Q2 is set for minor exterior upgrades, drastic interior updates and no changes under the hood. Small 1.0-liter will be available once again. On top of that, German carmaker will also offer an all-electric e-Tron version.
Minor Exterior Facelift
The latest spy shots are available and the 2020 Audi Q2 will get small visual updates. Under a heavy camouflage, some changes are easy to spot. The front fascia will get slightly larger features, which include headlights and bumper. The rear end will get larger taillights and it seems like the same taillamps are finished in a different shape. Dimensionally, Q2 will remain compact. This crossover is shorter than Audi’s A3 model. However, Q2 offers more ground clearance and a sportier look. The side profile will remain, like the rest of the exterior.
Audi Q2 to Introduce More Standard Tech Features
We could call this a significant interior upgrade. The forthcoming 2020 Audi Q2 will get new tech and more standard amenities. Thanks to that, Q2 is a new contender in the luxury compact crossover segment. For the start, Q2 will finally get Audi’s famous Virtual Cockpit system. You can forget about the old analog gauges. A new wide touchscreen will provide easier use and simpler interface. In that way, drivers can set the instrument cluster in the way they like it.
This update forced Audi to install a new infotainment display. New Multi-Media Interface (MMI) system is also in the offer. This system adds navigation and cruise control. This will make your highway adventures more pleasant. However, adaptive cruise control is not available yet. These updates will help the 2020 Audi Q2 to rival models such as BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Lexus UX. The rest of the cabin will largely remain.
Engine Specs, Q2 e-Tron, Mileage
Audi continues to offer the same engine lineup to its Q2 crossover. A 1.0-liter three-cylinder unit is a standard engine choice and it delivers 116 hp. This unit is known for its fuel efficiency but it lacks power. For that reason, a 2.0-liter diesel is available and it generates 150 horses. The same diesel offers another output that is rated at 190 horsepower.
A 7-speed dual-clutch transmission is available, along with the FWD system. Unlike the diesel, the gasoline variant does not offer Audi’s famous Quatro AWD setup. The German manufacturer will also introduce an all-electric Q2 e-Tron variant. We are still waiting for the official details from Audi. From what we know, e-Tron version will deliver 310 miles on a single charge.
2020 Audi Q2 Price and Release Date
The all-new 2020 Audi Q2 will cost slightly more than the current model. It makes perfect sense, given the number of updates, especially from the inside. The compact crossover will now cost $26,000. Choose a diesel engine and you will have to pay over $30,000. Knowing that the new Q2 e-Tron will surely cost around $40,000. German automaker will release its updated compact crossover in the coming months.
