It is the season of SUVs, and here comes 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 7 SUV. This is an attempt at a crossover SUV by Hyundai. It is quite similar in size and fashion to the three-row Hyundai Palisade. The platform used for this endeavor is new and able to accommodate all the components for the electric powertrain. That is right, this will be an electric SUV and electric only. We have seen many manufacturers racing to go green as soon as possible. And most of the vehicles announced recently are going to be sold exclusively with a battery pack.
The overall look and design of the Ioniq 7 is amazing and futuristic. It is curvy and looks like it came out of a sci-fi movie. It will be interesting to see whether the cabin is borrowed from a sibling SUV or a brand new one. The Ioniq 7 has a modern and sleek appearance on the outside. The new SUV will be reportedly a three-row seater, which is great. The powertrain will be powerful one with an amazing range. This will give it an edge over the competition. And the competition is fierce. Let’s read in more detail about the upcoming EV SUV.
2024 Hyundai Ioniq 7 Design
The outside of the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 7 SUV is as futuristic as they get. It has a lot of curves and angles to make it more aerodynamic. This decreases wind drag and improves fuel economy. Wheel rims are 19 inches with slim tires. Lightweight material to shave off some unnecessary weight.
There is no front mesh with air intakes. No need for it since all the powertrain parts are under the cabin for better balance and handling. So we have some extra storage space which is great due to a small trunk. The ride height is commendable and the bumpers are seamless. They fit well into the design and are almost unnoticeable. Headlights are vertical and use the latest LED technology. Also, there is a unified linear LED bar under the hood. As well as LED bar tail lights.
First Look Inside
On the inside, we have something never seen before for an SUV. 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 7 SUV has space for 3 rows of passengers. But instead, it is supposed to have a living room sofa. The seats on the front can swivel. Everything inside says environmentally friendly.
It has a flat floor and a literal lounge. Also, is easy to get in and out of due to sliding middle doors. We guess that upholstery is also a recycled or environmentally friendly material. It will surely have standard infotainment with good connectivity. As well as an electric dashboard to go with the futuristic look.
2024 Hyundai Ioniq 7 Motor Specs
The 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 7 SUV is innovative in the powertrain department as well. Hyundai decided to use a brand new platform. This was needed since electric vehicles have complicated powertrains. They have a lot of components, they are heavy and need to be put in certain places on an SUV. If they are placed improperly it will destabilize the SUV. Manufacturers will use their new E-GMP platform. Electric-global modular platform if you will, and it is scalable. Which means they can later use it for some other design of theirs. On paper, it is an 800-volt architecture. The battery is a 100 kWh battery. This does sound a bit anemic. Especially since the Ioniq 7 isn’t a small SUV, on the opposite, it has a small living room inside of it. It has 308 horsepower or 230 kilowatts.
We get a dual electric motor setup. This means that each axle has its own motor. This improves torque and power. We see a lot of single motor vehicles so this is a breath of fresh air. The planned range is 300 miles, which is great for a vehicle of this size. A bigger battery would give a greater power boost and greater range. So investing in a bigger powertrain should pay off for Hyundai. There are a lot of SUVs with about 300 ranges. Being able to brag about having a 400-500 miles range would be a big selling point.
Going green for Hyundai is huge. It will save the environment and some money in the long run. Gas prices are rising while you read this. So ditching the traditional engine for a battery pack makes perfect sense. However, considering how powerful the electric powertrains have become it is even preferable to go green. Many manufacturers vowed to have fully green fleets of vehicles by 2030. It will be interesting how much of that turns out to be true. It does come with fast charging as expected. This allows you to get 100 miles in 10 minutes which is amazing. No one likes stopping too often for a charge. Some companies give out 2 years of free charging to incentivize people to go green. It will be interesting to see if Hyundai does something similar.
Fuel Economy
This is still in the planning phase. But based on the powertrain specifications of the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 7 SUV we can make some assumptions. Most electric SUVs get around 80-90 mpg. The Ioniq 7 is on the powerful side and it should get around 100 mpg. But we will have to wait for some actual road tests to have a more detailed review of fuel consumption.
2024 Hyundai Ioniq 7 Price and Release Date
