The forthcoming 2021 Volkswagen Tarek is the brand’s newest subcompact crossover. This model will arrive with an attractive design and a very modern interior. Tarek will compete with other small crossovers such as Hyundai Venue and Chevy Trailblazer.
Volkswagen Tarek will share the platform and some other mechanical components with the Tiguan model. We expect more than solid performances and great ride comfort. The price won’t be so hard to predict and the new 2021 Tarek will go on sale in the coming months.
2021 Tarek Exterior Design
The all-new 2021 Volkswagen Tarek will arrive as a subcompact crossover. Thanks to that, this model is dimensionally similar to the Audi Q3. Whatsoever, Tarek will wear similar styling cues as the Q3 variant. That also includes the same architecture. However, the design language is the same as on the Tiguan model. It is a perfect mix and we think the Tarek crossover looks very modern and attractive.
The front fascia will wear a new grille and headlights. Tiguan comes with similar exterior parts but Tarek’s front section looks sharper. The rear part will get modern-shaped taillights and a wider bumper. Tarek will be 175 inches long and its wheelbase is rated at 105.5 inches.
Modern Interior
The cabin of the 2021 Volkswagen Tarek will be practical and it will feature a smart layout. However, this is a subcompact crossover so we don’t expect plenty of room on the inside. The platform is shared with the Audi Q3 model. While Audi offers more premium stuff, it seems like the Tarek will provide more legroom.
There will be room for five passengers and the cloth upholstery will be offered as standard. Volkswagen will deliver plenty of modern features, including the latest driver-assistance aids. Upper trim levels are equipped with more premium materials, a larger touchscreen, and ambient lighting. A fully digital gauge cluster is optional, along with the heated seats, heated steering wheel, and Wi-Fi hotspot.
Engine Lineup Borrowed From the Tiguan SUV
The engine lineup is perhaps the biggest mystery at the moment. The 2021 Volkswagen Tarek is still in the production stage. Thanks to that, we still don’t know which engine will be under its bonnet. However, the latest reports are predicting the same engines that you can find in the current Tiguan model. That includes a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine with 185 hp and 220 lb-ft of torque.
Another option is the 1.4-liter unit that also powers the new VW Jetta sedan. This output will be an entry-level variant with 147 horsepower. Thanks to the same underpinnings, the Tarek model will offer a standard FWD setup, just like the Audi Q3. Lastly, an eight-speed automatic transmission will be in the offer.
2021 Volkswagen Tarek Price and Release Date
The idea of the 2021 Volkswagen Tarek is to offer an affordable model. Thanks to that, this subcompact crossover will cost around $22,000. Upper trim levels will be available for $30,000 or above that.
Tarek will offer the same trim level lineup as the Tiguan model so the R-Line version is likely to happen. The sales will begin in the coming months and Tarek will be sold in North America exclusively.
