Toyota will introduce its Fortuner mid-size crossover in the coming months. The 2020 Toyota Fortuner will arrive in three different trim levels. On top of that, TRD trim will be in the offer on some markets. This crossover looks stylish and the design is very modern.
Interior also looks upscale and roomy. Since the previous model arrived with significant upgrades, 2020 Fortuner will get minor updates. On the other hand, some visible changes will happen. Under the bonnet, Toyota will offer three engine choices. And while we can’t categorize Fortuner as a premium crossover, range-topping trim will get you to a luxury level.
Exterior Changes
The all-new 2020 Toyota Fortuner will get minor exterior upgrades. The design looks modern and very stylish. Some parts are looking aggressive and sporty. We must credit Toyota’s designers for such an appealing look. Since the 2019 model started the second generation, the 2020 model will arrive with small improvements. On the other hand, some changes are visible. That includes sharper front fascia and revised LED headlights.
LED daytime running lights are in the offer but are largely unchanged. The front bumper looks bolder and dual-slot grille stays intact. Side profile comes with a new character line and standard 17-inch alloy wheels. 18-inch alloys are optional once again. However, 18-inch rims are standard on the upper trim levels. Rear part won’t get any type of changes.
Interior Refreshments
The interior will get slightly more updates. However, most of the updates are in the technology department. The 2020 Toyota Fortuner will offer room for seven passengers. Legroom is ample in the first two rows. However, the third row will feel tight for the adults. The base trim level comes with solid comfort and standard cloth upholstery. The range-topping trim level comes with leather seats and other premium amenities.
The cabin design looks modern and overall feeling from the inside is upscale. New 2020 Fortuner will get more standard equipment this time. That especially includes new driver-assistance features and safety systems. Bluetooth is standard, along with the 6-speaker sound system, navigation, and keyless entry. The infotainment system is updated and it comes with a standard 8-inch touchscreen.
Same Engine Lineup
As we already wrote, there will be three engine choices under the bonnet. It is the same engine lineup as in the 2019 Fortuner. A 2.4-liter four-cylinder diesel engine is the entry-level option. The diesel engine is capable and it produces 150 horses and 260 lb-ft of torque. The 2020 Toyota Fortuner offers a 2.8-liter four-cylinder as an option.
Optional diesel unit generates 178 hp and 308 lb-ft of torque. A larger 4.0-liter gasoline engine is the third engine choice. This powertrain returns 280 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of twist. Gasoline unit also offers a direct fuel injection system. All three options will deploy the same 6-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel-drive comes as standard and four-wheel-drive setup will be optional.
2020 Toyota Fortuner Price and Release Date
We can expect the same price with no actual increase. The 2020 Toyota Fortuner will start at $40,000. Upper trim levels will cost higher, logically, but range-topping trim is priced at over $50,000. Toyota’s new mid-size crossover will go on sale later in 2019. Probably this fall.
