Bronco SUV is making a huge return and it will compete with the famous Jeep Wrangler. The very first 2020 Bronco is about to arrive. And while we know almost everything, we will take a look in the 2021 Ford Bronco. The 2021 model will surely deliver numerous updates. Ford will surely listen to customer’s feedback and trust us, there will be complaints.
For that reason, the 2021 Bronco is already an interesting theme. We expect that both two and four-door variants should become available before 2021. Also, the hybrid drivetrain will happen as well, if not next year then in 2021. On top of that, Blue Oval will introduce a smaller “Baby Bronco” version as well. Bronco will offer a lineup of turbocharged engines and the all-new 10-speed automatic transmission.
Retro Design
The forthcoming 2021 Ford Bronco will be available in two and four-door variants. Whatsoever, Bronco will ride on the platform that will underpin the next-gen Ranger pickup truck. However, Bronco will borrow some more things from the famous Ranger model. For the start, large “Bronco” lettering across the front part is the same styling cue. Also, the bolder grille will be present.
Bronco SUV comes with similar cues as its only competitor, Jeep Wrangler. That includes removable top and removable doors. However, Bronco’s side mirrors are attached to the A-pillars. For that reason, removing the doors will keep the mirrors in place. The upcoming SUV will look retro and will offer round headlights and rectangular grille.
The Lineup of Turbocharged Engines
Ford is remaining silent on the performance details. However, the 2021 Ford Bronco will surely offer a lineup of engines with a turbocharger. For the start, a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine should come as standard. Optionally, a larger 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 will deliver 325 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. Also, the Blue Oval will offer a new 10-speed automatic gearbox.
Some off-road fans are still hoping to see a 7-speed manual transmission. While a manual transmission is just a rumor, for now, it is a possibility. Besides that, the hybrid drivetrain will arrive too. However, if hybrid does not arrive in 2020 than 2021 Bronco Hybrid is certain. Unfortunately, hybrid specs are not available at the moment.
Ford Bronco vs Jeep Wrangler
It is perhaps too soon to make such comparations. During the late 60s and early 70s, the market was full of off-road models. Most of the automakers such as Chevrolet, GMC, Jeep, Dodge, Plymouth, and Ford had the capable off-roaders in their lineup. Today, the only body-on-frame off-road model is Jeep Wrangler. However, Ford is ready to enter the competition with its Bronco SUV. Wrangler and Bronco are very similar models.
Dimensions are similar, along with the shape. We can expect similar performances and very similar price. We have no doubts, Wrangler comes with a tradition and it will surely win the first round in 2020. However, the 2021 Ford Bronco will surely become a tougher rival after the newest updates. Also, GMC will enter the race with its new model that will arrive in the next two years.
2021 Ford Bronco Price and Release Date
The all-new 2021 Ford Bronco will hit the markets later in 2020. Probably in the fall. The price will probably stay intact. That means the 2021 model will cost $30,000 for the base model. However, Bronco Hybrid could cost $35,000 when it arrives.
