The forthcoming 2021 Ford Explorer will most likely go on sale at the beginning of the next year. Blue Oval manufacturer will introduce a lot of significant upgrades. Of course, we should expect various exterior and interior changes. However, Ford could surprise us with the new engine. The arriving model will ride on a new architecture so Explorer will provide even more interior room now.
This SUV will also get a higher level of comfort and a quieter interior. As in the current model, a hybrid powertrain is available but Ford will try to provide even better fuel efficiency. Overall, Explorer will be heavily refreshed and its ST version will reach the markets at some point next year.
2021 Explorer Exterior Facelift
The all-new 2021 Ford Explorer will surely arrive with a couple of significant visual upgrades. For a start, this popular SUV will wear new bodywork. Ford is improving aerodynamics for a more upright appearance and improved fuel economy ratings. Explorer already looks modern and handsome but the new model will be the best one yet.
Some parts are clearly a carryover but front fascia will surely gain a new and unique design. A new platform means that the Explorer will be slightly larger than its predecessor. The same platform underpins Lincoln Aviator SUV. Blue Oval offers new headlights, sharper styling, and most likely, a couple of new exterior paints.
Interior Details
Larger dimensions will surely improve the interior room. Thanks to that, the new 2021 Ford Explorer will provide more space, especially for the rear occupants. Explorer will once again offer a very practical cabin with plenty of technology. Ford offers a long list of standard features and that could also improve in 2021.
From now on, even the entry-level models will feature standard features such as dual-zone climate control, satellite radio, and Ford’s Co-Pilot Safety suite. There will be room for seven passengers across the three rows of seats. Blue Oval manufacturer will work on a new cloth upholstery so the base model will provide a higher level of comfort. As for the upper trims, the same leather upholstery will be in the offer again.
Ford Explorer, Explorer ST, and Hybrid
As we said, the upcoming 2021 Ford Explorer will most likely get a new engine option. Right now, a 2.3-liter four-cylinder is a standard engine and it can produce 290 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque. 3.0-liter V6 gasoline is optional and it delivers 365 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. Explorer is built on a rear-wheel-drive platform but the all-wheel-drive setup is optional.
This SUV offers a 10-speed automatic transmission that provides smoother upshifts. The ST version is using the same 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost with a twin-turbo setup. Explorer ST is good for 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of twisting power. Lastly, Explorer Hybrid is available and this version has been rated at almost 400 horses.
2021 Ford Explorer Price and Release Date
