Next year, we are hoping to see the brand-new 2020 Subaru Crosstrek which will bring several changes this time. Alongside the traditional engine, we will see a new plug-in hybrid engine for the first time. Furthermore, the carmaker will reveal the new Crosstrek XTI which will feature a more aggressive styling and a new, more powerful engine.
Engine and performance of the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek
The new 2020 Subaru Crosstrek will be offered with the same engine as the current model but this time, we have heard the news, that it will offer a new engine as well. So, the base is going to be a 2.0-liter flat-4 engine. This unit will be able to make 152 horses and the torque of 145 pound-feet. The base and Premium models will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. However, these models will also be available with a continuously variable transmission which will be standard in the Limited trim level.
The all-wheel drive system will be standard. Connected to a manual transmission, it will be rated at 23 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. The model with a manual gearbox will get 27 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.
Furthermore, the Subaru Crosstrek XTI will use a 2.5-liter turbo engine which will be able to deliver 305 horses and 290 pound-feet of torque. On the other hand, we can also expect a plug-in hybrid version of the Crosstrek. However, we still don’t have the information about its range or other specifications.
The exterior and interior design of the new 2020 Subaru Crosstrek
When it comes to exterior design, the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek won’t be a major departure from the current model. It will look modern and rather conventional and the roof rails will be standard. However, we might see just some small changes this time in order to keep it fresh and competitive. On the other hand, the Crosstrek will get a more aggressive design compared to the standard model. So, it will feature a revised front end, sportier bumper, and larger intakes. The lower grille will also be slightly larger while lights will remain the same with the same C-shaped daytime running lights.
Inside, the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek is able to place up to five passengers and offers a good cargo space. It has the room of 20.8 cubic feet which expands to 55.3 cubes with the rear seats folded down. The standard equipment includes a 6.5-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, Bluetooth, 17-inch alloy wheels, a rearview camera, Bluetooth with audio streaming, etc. The Premium package will add a leather-wrapped steering wheel, fog lights, heated front seats and side mirrors, satellite radio, and so on. The Limited model will add 18-inch alloy wheels, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, leather seats, and a few more items.
Release date and price
The newest 2020 Subaru Crosstrek will arrive next year. And we believe that it will be in the second half of 2019. The price will probably be similar to the current and it starts at $21,800.
