The all-new 2020 Range Rover Evoque has been spied during its testing on the road and since it represents the next generation model, it is going to bring many upgrades. First of all, it will ride on a revised platform and will be slightly larger than its predecessor. The exterior will be inspired by the larger Range Rover Velar and inside the cabin, it will be improved with new materials and upgraded technology. As well, under the hood, it will be powered by the same engine as before but it will also get some new engines including a diesel and plug-in hybrid variants.
2020 Range Rover Evoque powertrain and performances
Beneath the hood of the 2020 Range Rover Evoque will be found the same engine which powers the current model. However, this time it will also get some new options including a hybrid engine. So, the base is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine. This unit is capable of making 240 horses and 250 pound-feet of torque. It will work with a 9-speed automatic transmission and will come with all-wheel drive configuration. The 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo diesel variant will also be available except for the US market.
On the other hand, the carmaker will offer a hybrid version which will combine a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with an electric motor. However, there is still no information about the output of this powerplant. Furthermore, the new 2020 Range Rover Evoque will also offer a plug-in hybrid engine.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2020 Range Rover Evoque is the next generation model and will bring many changes. It will ride on a revised version of the current LR-MS architecture and it is going to be slightly wider and will get a longer wheelbase. Moreover, it is expected to be lighter compared to the previous model. As for the exterior design, the Evoque will feature many similar styling cues with the larger Range Rover Velar. The similarities will mostly be seen of the front fascia with the same narrow grille and angular headlamps. As well, it will get the larger air inlets for better cooling. On the rear end, we will notice a new black bumper.
Inside the cabin, the new 2020 Range Rover Evoque will get more space because of the larger dimensions. This time the passengers will enjoy extra room and therefore more comfort. Furthermore, it will come with two rows of seats as before and will be able to welcome up to five passengers. The second row of seats will be split-folding which if needed for more cargo room. Generally, the cargo space is also expected to be larger because the Evoque is now wider than the previous model year. Furthermore, the materials will also be upgraded and we can expect more metallic and natural trims. The dashboard will also be revised with an upgraded infotainment screen which will be easier to use. As well, it will get a fully digital gauge cluster and upgraded buttons on the center console.
Release date and pricing
The new 2020 Range Rover Evoque should arrive sometime in the middle of 2019. The price is still not revealed but the price of the current version starts at around $41,800.
