First up is a rear-wheel drive 450+ and we have a 4Matic with a dual engine. The first one can produce 355 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. It does have only a rear axle motor. But the 4Matic one produces 536 horsepower and 633 pound-feet of torque.
The second trim will also have a torque shift function. This allows for a seamless distribution of driving torque among the front and rear electric motors. It is nice to see an SUV with a dual motor setup. This greatly improves power and torque. Tesla did something similar with the Cybertruck and went up to three motors. The top speed and zero to sixty are not known at the moment. We will have to wait for some further testing. The battery pack has only 107 kWh. This might sound a bit anemic. But we assure you that engineers at the German manufacturer know what they are doing.
Range, Charging Speed
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQC can provide 370 miles on a single charge, which is amazing for an SUV of that size. Also, the new model uses a DC charging to get from 10 % to 80% in just under 30 minutes. It has fast charging and peer-to-peer charging. This makes it one of the top SUVs to go for on the market. Perhaps there is an opportunity to upgrade the battery pack. Making it bigger gives more power and better range, which would be undisputed in the class.
The new platform that will support all of the components is called MMA. All of the parts will be under the cabin. This improves handling and stability on the road. With this type of technology, Mercedes is creating trouble for the top dog in the segment. We are talking about the Tesla Model X.
