Audi designers are trying to make the cabin look even better and more sophisticated with every new generation. It has 500 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque. The SQ8 runs on a similar powertrain. Even high-performance SUVs by Audi run on the same engine. So it might sound like overkill for the smaller SQ7. But we won’t complain if the SQ7 has a bit of a boost. This monster of an engine has all-wheel drive as standard. It has an automatic transmission with eight levels of speed. From zero to sixty mph, it needs only 3.5 seconds. This is quite impressive for a vehicle this size.
But it is interesting that after all of these performance numbers, it is still considered a family vehicle. Might be because it has three rows of seats. The fuel economy is decent. It needs 17 mpg combined, 15 mpg in the city, and 21 mpg on the open road. This is to be expected as the engine running under the hood is a V8, after all.
Although Audi has hybrid SUVs and fully electric ones, we haven’t heard anything about the SQ7 running on batteries. This might come in the future. Many manufacturers are going the electric way and putting battery packs in their vehicles. It saves the planet, and fuel is becoming ever more expensive. If electrification happens, we can expect Audi to be on their game. The price for the new 2023 Audi SQ7 is not a small one. It will cost you $88,500 for the basic trim. This, of course, increases in increments for every amazing amenity you choose to add. The Prestige trim will cost you $5,000 extra on top of that. Expect to see the SQ7 hit the road later this year.
