2020 Kia Soul: EV, Interior, Redesign

The all-new 2020 Kia Soul has been spotted during its testing and based on the spy photos, we can expect a new exterior design. The interior will also be upgraded with some new elements and more quality materials. Under the hood, there will be several types of engines as before while the Soul EV model will get new batteries which will provide a batter all-electric range.

The 2020 Kia Soul will return with several engines beneath the hood. The one is a 1.6-liter inline-4 which is able to make 130 hp and 118 pound-feet of torque. It will be available with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. With the manual gearbox, it will get 24/30 mpg while with automatic is rated at 26/31 mpg. The next option is a 2.0-liter inline-4. This one will be able to make 161 horses and 150 lb-ft of torque. It will work with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and it will get 25 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

There will also be a 1.6-liter inline-4 turbocharged powertrain. It will be linked to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and will have the output of 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. As for the fuel economy, it is estimated to be 26/31 mpg in the city/highway.

Furthermore, the Soul EV model will be powered by an electric motor which will be able to generate 109 hp and 210 pound-feet of torque. Its all-electric range will be up to 111 miles. It gets 124/93 MPGe in the city/ highway drive. However, the 2020 model year will get new battery options of 39.2 and 64 kWh which will provide a range of 150 and 280 miles.

The exterior and interior design

The all-new 2020 Kia Soul and Kia Soul EV have been spied during its testing and we could see that it will feature some new elements and evolutionary design. On the front, we have noticed the new, slimmer LED headlights and new LED daytime running lights. The tiger-nose grille will now be slimmer too and at the rear, we will notice new taillights.

As for the interior, the new 2020 Kia Soul will get new switchgear, a revised steering wheel, and the shifter will be now placed on the center console. Furthermore, the screen on the center of the dash will get an upgraded infotainment system.

The standard equipment of the base 2019 Kia Soul will include audio system, a rearview camera, 16-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, Bluetooth, power windows and doors, a drive-mode function, a 6-way manual-adjust driver’s seat, etc. The higher trim levels will add 18-inch wheels, heated front seats and steering wheel, leather upholstery, keyless ignition, cooled seats, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and so on.

Release date and price

We are expecting to see the new 2020 Kia Soul in 2019. The pricing will most likely stay close to the current which starts at around $17,400 while the EV version begins at $33,000.
