Cadillac is also entering the game of mid-size SUVs with their latest 2024 Cadillac XT5. Since 2017, the XT5 has been topping the sales charts. And for good reason, if we might say. The Cadillac’s SUV checked all the boxes. It was comfortable, it was stylish and luxurious, and it had good steering and drive. On top of that, it had a good reliable engine that didn’t waste gas by tons. But the top position they have with the XT5 is wobbly. The midsize SUV category is oversaturated and has many competitors. Many well-built competitors. Recently many manufacturers decided to reveal their newest creations and redesigns. This forced Cadillac’s hand and now they have to make the jump.
The latest redesign is a few years old, but in the automotive industry, this is ages past. So there is much to be done in order to remain the top dog. Better interior, new style, improved technology. On the outside, not much will change probably, except for minor tweaks to the SUV’s body. Under the hood, we might have a new powertrain, or a battery pack might replace everything.

Not many bad reviews have concerned the interior of the previous XT5. Nevertheless, Cadillac decided to give it some more touch-ups in order to hold onto its luxurious card. There are numerous safety features that can save a life in a clutch. For example, you get your standard automatic braking, pedestrian detection, lane change alert, and sensors all around the SUV to make parking and getting out of tight spots much easier. Cadillac might put hands-free driving software in their new XT5. This is all the hype at the moment as it is very futuristic and honestly quite new technology. Having an opportunity to relax a bit behind the steering wheel as the computer takes you down pre-mapped roads can be a great selling point. Is Cadillac Redesigning the XT5?
The outside will remain quite similar to its predecessor. Standard 18-inch wheel alloys are available. They are lightweight to shave off unnecessary weight and improve the power-to-weight ratio of the 2024 Cadillac XT5. This luxurious mid-size SUV is not going off-roading any time soon so no beefy tires. The front mesh is also lightweight and is big enough to let just enough air under the hood. This keeps everything cool and you can push the SUV to its limits.
The overall body has more curves, to stay true to contemporary style and make the SUV more aerodynamic. This translates well to the road too as it means better fuel economy and better handling. The ride height is the same and you can comfortably step in the SUV without any issue.
Engine Specs
Under the hood, we have several options. First up is the turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 235 horsepower and 258-pound feet of torque. And already well known 3.6 liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 271-pound feet of torque. A smaller engine is standard and will be available on cheaper trims. The big engine will be available in Premium and Luxury trims. There is a wheel drive and sports label with a V6 as well.
Transmission is automatic with 9 speeds. The hybrid version is probable, coupling it with the smaller engine should do wonders for the XT5. Also, there are rumors about an all-electric version of the XT5 but nothing is confirmed. If this happens, Ultium is the primary suspect for battery technology. Hopefully no less than 150 kWh so we can get nice mileage on it.
