Cadillac entered the compact crossover last year with the 2019 XT4. Now, the 2020 Cadillac XT4 will arrive with further improvements. That means the first-generation is still present and we can expect mid-cycle refreshments. This five-door crossover will get new exterior colors and better safety rating.
Also, a slight change in trim levels will happen as well. The 2020 XT4 will continue to ride on the same engine and the same platform. Exterior looks very handsome and the interior is upscale. The small 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine provides more than enough power and the ride is pleasant. Price is affordable for the segment and in line with rivals such as Acura RDX or Audi Q3.
New Exterior Colors
The upcoming 2020 Cadillac XT4 won’t introduce significant changes. Cadillac said that the crossover will get new exterior paints. However, the automaker didn’t specify what colors will be in the offer. The same aggressive styling will remain, along with the complete design language. Features such as running lights, sharp body lines, and bold grille will remain as well.
Vertical taillights are looking very modern, just like the 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels. LED headlights are standard. Have in mind that this crossover still rides on the first generation. Design is very fresh and Cadillac feels that there is no need for drastic changes at the moment.
2020 Cadillac XT4 Interior Features
The interior will get slightly more upgrades. Everything from the inside looks toned-down compared to the exterior. We can expect slightly more wood trims and carbon-fiber accents. The cabin is very modern and it offers plenty of upscale materials. Rear occupants can enjoy ample legroom. Cargo area is rated at 49.0 cubic feet. The comfort is great and seats are supportive. The base trim level comes with standard dual-zone climate control and 8-inch display.
Larger display, tri-zone climate control, and leather seats are optional. When it comes to safety, the 2020 Cadillac XT4 will introduce more driver-assistance features. That includes emergency braking, parking assistance, and adaptive cruise control. Blind spot monitoring and a rearview camera are standard on the base model too. A seven-speaker audio system, keyless entry, and universal garage door opener are available as well.
Performance
Under the hood, the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is the only drivetrain option. The 2020 Cadillac XT4 can produce up to 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The active fuel management system is included, along with the optional four-wheel-drive setup.
Fuel economy is more than good for an engine with the turbocharger. XT4 model provides 30 mpg on the highway. A 9-speed automatic transmission is in the offer. As before, the front-wheel-drive system comes as standard.
2020 Cadillac XT4 Price and Release Date
The compact crossover will hit the markets in the last quarter of 2019. The 2020 Cadillac XT4 will retain its price that starts at $35,500 for the base model. However, we strongly recommend mid trims or higher. That means you could get more premium XT4 model for $40,000. This crossover will compete against rivals such as Audi Q3, Acura RDX, and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
